Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences
Assistant/Associate Professor – Toxicology
The Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences at the University of Connecticut, School of Pharmacy invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position in neurotoxicology at the Assistant or Associate Professor level, starting August 23, 2011. We are seeking a scientist with a strong background in research and teaching with a focus on the effects of xenobiotics on the nervous system and/or developmental neurotoxicology. This will complement the interests of the faculty in the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences, which includes integrative approaches to elucidate mechanisms of drug or toxicant action, drug discovery and design, and pharmaceutical technology. The Department is housed in a new 200,000 square foot state-of-the-art building in the science quad of the University of Connecticut and encourages faculty interdisciplinary interactions with other programs of the University such as Physiology/Neurobiology and the Molecular and Cell Biology Program. The successful candidate is expected to develop a strong extramurally funded research program and to effectively participate in teaching at the graduate and professional levels. A competitive salary and startup funds will be provided. Qualifications: Applicants must possess a Ph.D. degree or equivalent; strong oral and written communication skills, and a strong background in research and teaching with a focus on the toxic effects of xenobiotics on the nervous system and/or developmental neurotoxicology. Preferred Qualifications: Contribute through research, teaching, and/or public engagement to the diversity and excellence of the learning experience.

Department of Pharmacy Practice
Assistant/Associate Professor – Internal Medicine, 11-month Tenure Track
The University of Connecticut School of Pharmacy invites qualified candidates to apply for a full-time (11-month appointment), tenure track position as Assistant/Associate Professor of Internal Medicine within the Department of Pharmacy Practice. The faculty member will have scholarship, didactic and experiential teaching, and service responsibilities at UConn School of Pharmacy in Storrs throughout the academic year. The faculty member is responsible for establishing an interdisciplinary clinical practice at Hartford Hospital in Hartford, CT to support the experiential education of PharmD students.
Requirements: The successful candidate must possess a PharmD degree, have completed a post-doctoral fellowship or equivalent experience (which could include a pharmacy residency with additional research training and experience), be licensed or license eligible to practice pharmacy in Connecticut, and have previous didactic / experiential teaching experience. The candidate will possess strong clinical practice competencies, research skills, written/verbal/ interpersonal skills, and organizational and multi-tasking skills.
Preferred qualifications: Strong scholarship portfolio (publications, presentations, contracts or grants) and a diverse teaching portfolio.

Staff Positions
Field Coordinator (50% FTE Position) – UCP V Title: Field Coordinator
Position Summary: This position reports directly to the Director of Experiential Education in the Office of Experiential Education and supervises and monitors students who are enrolled in the experiential programs (IPPE and APPE). This position is involved with the planning, development, implementation, and evaluation of our experiential programs. The Field Coordinator supports the activities and the mission of the Office of Experiential Education, Department of Pharmacy Practice, and School of Pharmacy.
Role and Responsibilities: Primary responsibilities of the Field Coordinator include assigning students to affiliated practice sites, managing the experiential program student database (developing/updating experiential course materials and guidelines), coordinating preceptor orientation and development activities, providing lectures on topics relating to the experiential program, arranging the prescribed number of visits to practice sites throughout the State of Connecticut and surrounding states, evaluate and make recommendations for changes in experiential program. Interviews and explains experiential program to site supervisor/preceptor and supervises students in fulfilling objectives of the experiential program. Interacts with students and preceptors during practice site visits and resolves issues relevant to our experiential program. Arranges monthly visits to assigned practice sites to meet with both students and preceptors.
Minimum Requirements: The successful candidate will have: a pharmacy degree from a U.S. accredited institution; licensure in or eligibility for licensure to practice pharmacy in Connecticut; 5 or more years of pharmacy practice experience (ex. community/hospital);; demonstrated ability in critical thinking and problem-solving learning activities; demonstrated superior organizational and time management skills, multi-tasking ability, strong interpersonal skills; ability and willingness to travel in and out of state and work irregular and flexible hours; evidence of being able to work independently and meet deadlines; evidence of the ability to collaborate with other members of an organization and demonstrated collegiality; proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (i.e. Excel, Word, Power Point) and other applications. Applicant must have demonstrated superior communication skills both in written and verbal format, conflict and resolution management skills; and demonstrated ability to collaborate with administration, pharmacy faculty peers, adjunct faculty, and students.
Preferred qualifications: Individuals with 10 or more years of experience, practice experience in multiple practice areas, pharmacy experiential teaching background.
Salary: Commensurate with qualifications and experience.
