The Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences is engaged in a wide array of pharmaceutical research and education. The medicinal chemistry discipline is focused on pharmaceutical chemistry, drug discovery & compound library screening, and receptor biology. The pharmaceutics discipline is concerned with drug formulation, stability, and delivery science, and also works on medical devices. The pharmacology & toxicology discipline works on molecular and cellular mechanisms of disease states and associated pharmacology, as well as a range of toxicology research. Together, these disciplines provide a strong multidisciplinary approach to research. The highly collaborative environment is also conducive to interactions with other programs at the university such as in chemistry, physiology and neurobiology, molecular and cell biology, and in engineering.
