The School of Pharmacy officially recognizes pharmacy student organizations that: are student chapters affiliated with a professional pharmacy-related organization; are pharmacy-related fraternities or sororities; are pharmacy-related honor or professional societies; are pharmacy-related research organizations; or meet a unique need of the students as approved by the Office of the Associate Dean. Each pharmacy student organization is advised by a faculty member.
Pharmacy Student Government
The Pharmacy Student Government [PSG] is a student run “umbrella” organization that works to enhance communication between students, faculty, administration, University of Connecticut schools with health-related interests, and other schools of pharmacy. Pharmacy Student Government lobbies for the interests of the students and organizes activities that are social, professional and/or philanthropic in nature. Pharmacy Student Government is comprised of four  representatives from each professional program class and up to two  representatives appointed from each pharmacy student organization recognized by the Office of Associate Dean. Representatives of the P2, P3 and P4 classes are elected in the first full week in April. The P1 class representatives are elected during the third full week of classes in September. The dean and associate dean serve as ex-officio members of the body.
Alpha Zeta Omega Pharmaceutical Fraternity – Nu Chapter
Alpha Zeta Omega is a pharmaceutical fraternity composed of pharmacists and pharmacy students. The objectives of the organization are: to promote the profession of pharmacy; to develop high standards of scholarship; to inculcate a spirit of fellowship amongst its members; to bring together a body of men and women who, by the diligent maintenance of ethical ideals and faithful service, have proven a credit to their chosen profession; to honor achievement in others; to commend all worthy deeds; to build within the fraternity a triangle composed of three supporting sides which are peace, friendship, and brotherly love.
American Association of Pharmaceutical Scientists [AAPS]

The mission of the American Association of Pharmaceutical Scientists Student Chapter is to increase student participation in the activities of the American Association of Pharmaceutical Scientists at the local and national levels. The organization works to: increase student awareness of career opportunities and the latest advances and discoveries in the pharmaceutical sciences; provide students with opportunities for professional advancement and leadership development; and foster participation in outreach activities that further the goals and objectives of the American Association of Pharmaceutical Scientists. Membership is open to all undergraduate and graduate students and post-doctoral fellows at the University of Connecticut.

The Academy of Students of Pharmacy is the national professional society of pharmacy students and is an affiliate of the American Pharmaceutical Association [APhA.] Membership is open to all pharmacy and pre-pharmacy students.

Drug Information Association [DIA]

The Drug Information Association is an international, nonprofit organization that serves as the global forum for therapeutic innovation and regulatory science. The purpose of the DIA UConn Student Chapter is to raise student awareness of career opportunities within the pharmaceutical industry and medical product development field. As part of this, members will be provided with the experience and tools necessary to expand their personal career development. Members will also be provided with opportunities to collaborate and network with other students and professionals to foster medical innovation and exchange information to help improve public health.
Kappa Psi Pharmaceutical Fraternity – Nu Chapter
Kappa Psi is the world’s oldest and largest pharmacy fraternity and the only all male pharmaceutical fraternity at the University of Connecticut. Kappa Psi promotes the four cornerstones of fellowship, industry, sobriety, and high ideals.

Rho Chi is the pharmacy academic honor society that: encourages and recognizes excellence in intellectual achievement; advocates critical inquiry in all aspects of pharmacy; encourages high standards of conduct and character; and fosters fellowship among its members: instills the desire to pursue intellectual excellence and critical inquiry; and to advance the profession.
Society for Pharmacy Research [SPR]
The Society of Pharmacy Research (SPR) is a professional pharmacy organization in its second year at the University of Connecticut School of Pharmacy. The mission of SPR is to promote awareness and understanding in the area of pharmacy research. As the profession of pharmacy advances, the research opportunities for PharmDs grow and the importance of understanding research going on in the field of pharmacy is of increasing significance. Although by design the PharmD degree places emphasis on clinical competency, students may wish to enhance their education through clinical or scientific research.
The Student National Pharmacy Association is an educational service association of students who are concerned about pharmacy and health care related issues, and the poor minority representation in pharmacy and other health-related professions. The organization plans, organizes, coordinates and executes programs geared toward improving the health, educational, and social environment of the community.
